The Supervisor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Township, Treasurer of all Township funds, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and a voting member of the Board of Trustees. The Township Supervisor is also the supervisor of General Assistance.

The Bremen Township Administration Office is located at 16361 Kedzie in Markham, Illinois. Along with the day to day operations of township government, the General Assistance, the Township Assessor, and the Township Highway Department are staffed at this location. Appeals are now open for the 2022 tax year.

You must schedule an appointment to file an appeal in person, no walk-ins.

Last date to file is Tuesday September 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm. 


  • Assist filing appeals with the Cook County Assessor & Cook County Board of Review (Homeowners never need to hire an attorney or consultant to file a property tax appeal, this is optional).
  • Exemption applications ( homeowners, Senior homeowner/freeze, disabled veteran(30% to 100%), Veterans recently returning from active duty in an armed conflict involving the United States and disabled persons.
  • Certificates of Error.
  • Property characteristic descriptions and changes.
  • Record Bremen Township real estate sales from Cook County.
  • Applications for divisions and consolidation of properties.
  • Seminars on property taxes.
  • Name and address changes on property tax bills.
  • Applications for property tax refunds via Cook County Treasurer.
  • Record and submit Bremen Township Building permits to Cook County.
  • Pay property owner(s) tax bill online (must have an email address, checking or savings account).

Central to government because they are responsible for keeping and making official records and legislation accessible to residents, the clerk’s office is essential. They are often the first and most direct link between residents and government.


  • Assist clients in finding their voters information.
  • Assist our clients in finding resources through collaboration with various
  • Social Service Agencies and Community Agencies.
  • Distribution of Absentee Ballot Applications.
  • Issue temporary 90-day vehicle placards for disable persons, with a completed application from the Doctor.
  • Manages the coordination and distribution of replacement placards.
  • Notary Public Documentation (notarizing documents for no charge)
  • Inform the residents of Bremen Township Meetings through Legal and Public Notices.
  • Administer Oaths to all Township Elected Officials.
  • Publicizing and conducting Annual Town Meeting as required by statute. Meetings are held the second Tuesday in April of each year. Electors elect a Moderator.
  • Assists County Clerk with Election Outreach and Deputy Registrar Classes.
  • Acts as the Official Custodian of Bremen Township records.
  • Conducts Bid Opening.

Notice is hereby given that a Tentative Budget and Appropriation Ordinance for the Bremen Township District, in the County of Cook, State of Illinois, for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2020 and ending March 31, 2021 will be on file and conveniently available to public inspection at 15350 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Forest, IL on May 15th, 2020.Notice is further given hereby that a public hearing on said Budget and Appropriation Ordinance will be held at 6:45 P.M. Monday, June 15th, 2020 at 15350 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Forest in this Township of Bremen and that final action on this ordinance will be at the Public Hearing.Dated this 15th day of May 2020.

The Township Highway Department has jurisdiction over the unincorporated roads in the Township.  We routinely perform the following:


  • Cut grass and trim trees along Township roads.
  • Plow and salt roadways as required.
  • Re-ditch drainage trenches and install culverts along roads.
  • Pothole maintenance, road resurfacing and signage.
  • Assist with building and grounds maintenance at the Oak Forest, Senior/Youth centers and the Markham Administrative Center.
  • Maintain and repair vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment and tools.
  • Issue driveway/culvert permits.
  • Assist residents as required.


Bremen Township works in conjunction with the Cook County Department of Transportation, County Commissioners and the Water Reclamation Department for a solution to rain water management in the unincorporated areas.
